Pineapple Guava Tree (feijoa sellowiana)

$21.99

Pineapple Guava Tree, botanically known as Feijoa sellowiana (also called Acca sellowiana), is a cold-hardy, small fruiting tree or large shrub valued for both its edible flowers and flavorful fruit. In late spring, it produces showy blooms with fleshy, aromatic petals that have a sweet, perfumed, tropical flavor. The flowers are not only ornamental but edible, adding a unique culinary element.
The oval fruit measures about one to two inches long and ripens with a soft interior that delivers a complex, pineapple-like taste with subtle citrus notes. The fruit can be eaten fresh by scooping out the pulp, or used in desserts, preserves, and beverages. For a simple dessert, halved fruit can be lightly coated with honey or sugar and baked at 310°F for about 20 minutes, then cooled and served with a drizzle of cream.
Pineapple Guava is drought tolerant once established, and suitable for hedging, containers, or edible landscapes. It performs best in full sun with well-draining soil and is valued for its dual ornamental and culinary appeal. Zones 7b-10
