Lg. Acerola Cherry Tree (malpighia glabra)

$31.59

Acerola Cherry Tree, Malpighia glabra – Barbados Cherry, is a delicious, high-yield tropical fruit plant prized for its exceptional vitamin C and antioxidant content. It grows as a large, bushy shrub or small tree, reaching up to 20 feet tall, with erect, spreading branches and a short trunk.
The flowers are especially attractive, featuring five pink to lavender, spoon-shaped petals with delicate fringed edges. Blooming is often followed quickly by fruit, sometimes several times per year in warm climates.
The bright red fruits are round and cherry-like with distinct lobes and a thin, glossy skin. Inside, the orange-colored flesh is sweet, juicy, and refreshing. Fruits are borne singly or in small clusters of two or three along the leaf axils, making harvesting easy.
Barbados Cherry trees remain relatively compact and are well suited for patio container growing, as well as in-ground planting in warm climates. Thriving in full sun with well-drained soil, they perform best in USDA Zones 9B to 11.
