Chenille Red-Hot Cattail (acalypha hispida)

$26.79

Red-Hot Cattail frequently called the Chenille Plant for its feathery, soft red draping flower spikes, Acalypha hispida is a bold tropical shrub known for its vivid color and dramatic texture. The long, pendulous flower spikes resemble plush red tassels and create a striking display in warm climates.
Mature plants can reach up to 12 feet in height and spread 3 to 6 feet wide under ideal conditions. The dense, fluffy blooms contrast strongly against the rich green foliage and can appear throughout much of the year in consistently warm regions.
Acalypha is native to the South Pacific and includes numerous variations in form and coloration. With full sun to partial sun, well-draining soil, and regular watering, Chenille Plant delivers strong tropical character and vibrant flowering presence in gardens, patios, and warm landscape settings. USDA Zones 9b–11
