Amydrium Zippelianum Plant (aroid sp.)
Amydrium zippelianum is a bold, palm-leaf–styled aroid within the genus Amydrium, prized for its dramatic mature foliage and vigorous growth. Mature plants produce large, deeply cut leaves that resemble tropical palm fronds, creating a full, architectural presence. Node spacing becomes tighter as the plant establishes, resulting in a bushier, more compact appearance with substantial leaf size. Juvenile plants look very different from mature specimens. Young growth tends to be smaller-leaved and more vine-like with wider node spacing. Under strong growing conditions, however, this variety transitions quickly into its mature form, developing larger foliage within a short period.
Amydrium zippelianum performs best when given vertical support. A burlap-wrapped totem or moss pole encourages tighter nodes and larger leaves. It can also climb outdoors in warm climates when trained onto a tree or structure. With bright, indirect light and consistent moisture, this fast-growing species becomes an impressive tropical specimen suitable for indoor collections or warm outdoor environments.
